Schakel voor werkzaamheden aan de lamp altijd de stroom uit door de zekering te verwijderen of de stekker uit het stopcontact te halen. Dit geldt ook voor reinigen, onderhoud en het vervangen van de lichtbron. Lampen kunnen zeer heet worden rond het lichtpunt. Raak de lamp daarom niet aan wanneer deze ingeschakeld is of nog warm is. Defecte lampen mogen alleen worden vervangen door lampen van hetzelfde type, wattage en voltage. Bij beschadiging van de lamp, het snoer of de fitting moet het gebruik direct worden gestaakt. Reparaties mogen uitsluitend worden uitgevoerd door een gekwalificeerde elektricien. Gebruik voor reiniging alleen een droge doek en voorkom dat vocht in aanraking komt met bedrading of stroomvoerende onderdelen.
